A Rainbow in His Hometown © 2013 Ambush Hymnal (SESAC) And they told him the rain was all he’d ever know But he knew they were lyin and they wouldn’t say so So he ran to the sea, and stole the tears of the sun And they called him the Devil and they went for their guns And he wanted to leave, but they held him inside Till he went off and found a place he hide But they tore through the wall and they shot the boy down And they painted a rainbow for him in his hometown And the one that he loved, she was married away On a dark windy morning to a man made of clay And she let him inside as she spit at the dark Till it bled into light and poured into her heart Con sus ojos azul and her hair ocean black She cried for her fool, he would never come back So she ran to the sea, with her shadow untied She held up her arms and fell into the sky O no I got trouble in mind I need to dream it away So I sleep all the time O no your dreams ain’t no crime So just stay there with yours And I’ll stay here with mine O no to dream ain’t no crime So just stay there with yours And I’ll stay here.

I have my heart It's still mine if I throw it away or pull it apart it'll beat at the end of the day it colors my ears with a sound that i can't even name but this head i've got tells me stories that i can't contain like the song of the birds as they hum through the trees i won't give it a word it'll do what it please and these hands of mine won't touch nothing that i cannot see so i will not bind what you are to the inside of me these things i say may be awhile before you hear them again so please find a way to keep them with you until then i won't burn myself down i won't dig my own grave i won't look to be found i won't look to be saved But I'll love you if you let me it's the least i could do the sun above won't forget me like the song of the birds as they hum through the trees i won't give it a word it'll do what it please ©2013 Ambush Hymnal (SESAC)

Tears (In The Shadow Of His Teacher) © 2013 Ambush Hymnal (SESAC) No good time When the one you love is leavin Who in their right mind Has a reason to believe That they’ll do fine He got everything he needs and all the empty spaces beckon and call 10 to 9 he’ll be running late again this morning rain or shine he ain’t making no apologies it ain’t a crime to drink another night away when all the angry ghosts they cling to the walls he’d forgotten he’ll be dreaming for a thousand years of how she taught him how to shower the eternal in his tears in the shadow of his teacher he cried tears he remembers when he saw her for the first time with her face like embers burning out into the morning air there’s nothing left now but the smell of her perfume on someone’s unmade bed, and a key on the floor she burned heaven to try to show him how to reach her but then no one set him up to lay him any lower than right here in the shadow of his teacher he cried tears
